Front Garden with waste that effects local residents actioned
Wednesday 11 May 2022
A front garden that was unsightly and causing a detrimental effect to the local area was enforced by Neighbourhood enforcement officers. The owner was contact and duty of care to the local area was enforced using Community Protection Notice with the Section 48 & 52 Anti-Social Behaviour, Crime and Policing Act 2014. The owner has now cleared the land and will install a new fence to prevent waste accumulation in the future. This will continuously be monitored.
Overgrown hedges, rusting cars, rotting mattresses and piles of rubbish in people’s gardens are not only unsightly, they can be a health risk too. We have powers to deal with untidy gardens or land where there is material which can rot and cause a nuisance to neighbours or attract rats or mice. We will also act where there are materials which are unsightly but unlikely to cause a statutory nuisance.
